It took me about 200 rejections to learn to check that first.

One of my biggest regrets came in year one: I accepted a log with a 2 ft depth mismatch because the field engineer said it was within industry tolerance. It wasn't. The redo cost $22,000 and pushed the completion a day and a half. Since then, depth control is the first thing on my list.

Tool identification. Every run needs the actual tool string, with serial numbers and calibration dates. A log that can't be traced to a specific tool is a rumor, not a record.

Data handling. The digital file and the printed file must be identical. I've rejected reports where the printed depth was 3 ft off from the LAS file because the field engineer had edited one version and not the other.

Repeatability. For any zone that's going to be perforated or used in a completion decision, I want a repeat section. If the second pass doesn't overlay the first, we have a problem that no brand name solves.
